Cedar Hill Quilt Guild                       Minutes April 18th, 2017  Meeting

Minutes of March 2017 were emailed. Mary D made a motion to accept the minutes, Kathy B seconded the motion, and the minutes were carried with the vote.

Treasurer report was received.

Thank you notes were received from "The Department of Veterans Affairs" thanking us for the lap robes and afghans. Parkland Hospital thanked us for the 73 hats, 1 pr booties, and 9 blankets. Children's hospital says thanks also.

Birthday girl is Dora J.

Announcements: New "Retreats 4 you" center in Kaufman is open. The website is www.Fabrics-4-You.com/Retreats-4-you.

Sunshine and shadows: Charlotte's grandson go married! We are so sorry that Angela C's mother passed away. Ruth W's husband is fighting cancer as well as Pat K's husband. Carolyn's daughter had a stroke and may be blind as the retina is involved. Bobbie B's son has MS. Diana B has been fighting dizziness. If you like to pray, please add these dear ones to your list.

Block of the month: Gina P won the blocks and gave them to Rita A. Next months' block is "Dutch treat " in spring colors.

Donation Quilt: Being taken to Arlington quilt guild mtg, Modern quilt guild mtg, and Cedar Hill country day.

TAG Day is July 8th: Location Mimosa Lane in Mesquite. Be sure to take your member card to get in. There is a 25% gift tax on raffle items won.

Our Raffle Quilt: please try to sell or buy 24 tickets to get one ticket for the gift certificate drawing. ( Those who sit for 2 hours displaying our raffle ticket also get one ticket for the drawing.

Door prizes were won by Cherly S, Angela C. and Marlyn Z.

Visitors were Mary H from Midlothian, Mickie I from Colorado, Irene N from Duncanville, Connie, and Nancy V from Grand Prairie.

Shop News: Mary G announced her store/long arm/workshop in Midlothian's crystal forest. (Eggs for sale)

Program: Judy P did a lovely explanation of personality styles and how it can be reflected in choices of fabrics, era of fabrics, precision of patterns, amount of stashing, volume of tools etc.

May's Program: you are invited to bring vintage or heritage quilts that you have. Each person can tell about 2 quilts, then we can see extra ones if there is time.

Show and Tell: Marilyn Z. made a baby quilt, 2 hats, and a wall hanging from Judy Niemeyer's design.

Dora J. showed 2 lap quilts. Gina P exhibited her "Feedsack 9 Patch".

Hollie M. displayed her sunshine bargello circle quilt, and a black and white strippy quilt.

Rheta G: showed us her fundraiser quilt, applique bunnies with echo stitching, and a charity quilt  with horse themes for "paws for reflection equine ctr".

Mary H . displayed her Dresden plate quilt.  

Mary D did 6 baby hats.

Ruth M.:A wacky web and a log cabin with 1940 fabric. Also a stars from Rhonda's shop.                                  

Mamie B did an impressive 49 caps.

December 5th will be the Christmas party date. Motion by Gina and 2nd by Stephanie.
