It's been a fun first week of 2016 and you don't want to miss out on the next couple of week either.

First thing is, we have several openings on our Patchwork Express bus.  If you aren't on the bus already,  you don't want to miss this opportunity.
What is the Patchwork Express? The North Texas Patchwork Express is a two day bus trip full of fun and shopping with fellow quilters.  We will be visiting a total of eight wonderful North Texas quilt shops!
Buses will take off on Saturday morning, April 23, 2016 and return in the evening on Sunday, April 24, 2016. You'll enjoy two days packed full of fun, friends, and shopping. Registration fee includes your transportation in a luxury coach, hotel accommodations based on double occupancy, 3 meals, a shopping bag filled with over $25.00 in quilting supplies.  It will be a weekend you will not forget!  
 
All for only $159.95! 
 
We have some new shops participating this year, and even some old shops under new management.  So even if you have participated in previous years, you won't want to miss Patchwork Express 2016.

We have had lots of requests for a special time for those that love the craft to gather and share in their passion. We have Crabapple Hill patterns, Bird Brain, Perle cotton threads, muslin and many more supplies you may need.  This is not a class, just come join us for the fun. Bring your hand work or your machine and let's be creative  together. Feel free to bring a snack to share.

Come share your love of quilting with fellow quilters as we make donations quilts for local charities.  You bring the machine and petal power and we supply the kits.  It is truly a rewarding day.
All in a Row  -  Row of the Month Club
2nd Thursday of the month

Come join us on this new adventure. We will be using the newly published book, Moda All-Stars All in a Row for this gathering.  Each month we will pick a row to work on all together or you can pick your own. You can choose a line of fabric, or you can go scrappy and use your stash.  It's your project!  We will teach the different techniques in the book including applique, hand embroidery and different short-cuts for basic piecing. You must purchase this book to participate in this class.
 
Coloring Day with designs by tana

Crayon Classes are offered monthly on the 3rd Friday and 4th Saturday. New beginner students can join in on the fun of adult coloring on fabric. New students should register at Quilt Among Friends by completing registration card. You will receive your homework kit and class supply list. Yes... you will have homework tracing your block for class. Need help with tracing? Just ask and Quilt Among Friends team will be glad to help you get started.
 
Fees: Class and pattern $35.00, Homework kit (Pigma pen, artwork and EZ pellon) $10.00, and Equipment rental fee $10.00 (includes us of our ironing surface, craft iron, crayon tray, sharpener and utility brush) Total $55.00  
 
An invoice will be sent by designs by tana to your email address you provided on the registration card by Square Merchant Service and you can enter your pay online for class fees.

Meet & Greet BOM

This month you can bring your machine and sew all day if you like. Please leave machines in your car until BOM has concluded.
 
Come join the fun. Each month we give you a free pattern for you to work on.  The next month you can bring it back to show everyone. This year we will be working Jingle BOM. You can see a finished version here: http://erinrussek.typepad.com/one-piece-at-a-time/jingle-bom/   Please done panic, yes there is applique but you don't have to do applique.  You might choose to only do the pieced blocks.  And yes, this one is in green and red, but you don't have to do green and red, but these blocks would be beautiful in any color scheme.  Also this year, if we don't have other class commitments on that Saturday we will have open sewing lab. So please plan to join us on the third Saturday each month for fun and fellowship.  Bring Show & Tell too.  Please remember 2 non-perishable food items for the food pantry basket.

Great Escape Winter Quilt Retreat

Our fall retreat is just for YOU.
YOU bring YOUR projects,
YOU sew Friday, Saturday and Sunday,
YOU relax and enjoy.
YOU sleep in your own bed each evening and return to the shop each morning.

A few days for YOU to just soak in the creativity and have fun.  Enjoy the fellowship and sew yourself silly. Share your quilting passion with others...it will be pure heaven! The retreat fee is $75.00 for the weekend. Included in this fee is Friday evening meal, Saturday lunch, Sunday lunch, beverages, door prizes and enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases that weekend.  This is a first come first serve event. We can only accommodate 12 quilters for this event.  You must call the shop to secure your spot.  NO emails, text, voice mails, etc...you must call and talk to a staff member after 10 AM, submit payment and get a confirmation number from our staff.  Call 817-795-0900 to reserve your table today.  We will be open January 11, 2016 from 10 am to 5 pm.
 
Machine Embroidery

Class Fee: $35.00  plus supplies

This month we will be starting at the very beginning!  You will learn how to download embroidery patterns from the internet to your computer and then onto your machine.  We will then take that pattern and embroidery it on to a hand towel and add a ruffle if you so choose.

This is a free activity we host and in return we ask you to bring two non-perishable food items to donate to our food collection basket for Arlington Urban Ministries.  You're welcome to bring a dish or snack to share.

Stitchin Addiction -  Pre-fused & Applique Class

This fun quilt can be in your home.  In class, we will place the pre-fused, pre-cut pieces and get them appliqued to the background.  Stop by the shop to see our adorable shop sample.
 
 
 
For all free activities at Quilt Among Friends we ask you to donation 2 non-perishable food items to our food pantry basket.  We donate these to Arlington Urban Ministries once a month.

Standing Workshop 2nd Thursday each month from 5 to 8 p.m.  -- Shop local small business on Small Business Saturday,  Nov 28th. Come on out and stitch at Seldom Seen Stitching with us inside My Father’s House Antiques in Waxahachie ! If you've thought about learning to quilt on the longarm, here's a free chance to try your hand at it – or if you have recently learned and would like a little extra practice.  We'll be quilting for Children’s Hospital. There's also plenty of room for you to work on a project of your own if you prefer:  a design wall, several sewing machines, ironing and cutting stations.  The store will remain open for us as well, and the Downtown Merchants will be hosting “Ladies Night Out” at the same time. No reservations necessary. No fee. See you there!

Standing 1st and 3rd Thursday Quilt/Sew groupA little get together at Gina Padgett's so members can get to know one another better.  If there is something you do not know how to accomplish, there will someone there to help you. We are now meeting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 9am at 328 Windy Meadow Drive in Cedar Hill.  If the group cannot meet, an announcement will be emailed prior to the date.
